What foods act as antioxidants? pictures

Antioxidants are important for keeping us healthy. These antioxidants helps us by fighting oxidation, which is a normal chemical process that our body undertakes each day. Things such as stress, alcohol, and smoking cigarettes can accelerate this process. Disruptions in this process create highly unstable and possibly damaging molecules and if left uncontrolled, these can cause damage to your cells. Antioxidants include many nutrients that are good for our bodies, including vitamins C and E, beta carotene, and selenium, which helps prevent damage to your cells. Antioxidants can also improve your immune system, lower your risks of infection, and even possibly prevent cancer. One good tip to eating foods high in antioxidants is to eat those foods that represent all of the colors in a rainbow. Bright orange and deep yellow fruits and veggies such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and apricots are high in these nutrients. Other great foods for antioxidants are green vegetables. These include cabbage and broccoli. Tomatoes and other red foods offer another great type of antioxidants. Blue or purple foods, such as eggplant and blueberries are also good for you. We all know that eating a good diet rich in nutrients will help us live longer and healthier. Another piece of that puzzle includes eating the foods listed above and getting a good amount of antioxidants into your body.
