However, many people dont know that this food can also help you reduce your chances of suffering from depression and its symptoms. In fact, eating tomatoes just a few days a week will help you reduce this risk. A study was conducted on about 1,000 men and women, all 70 or over. This study shows that those who ate tomatoes on a regular basis were 46% less likely to show symptoms of depression; daily consumption drops this to a 52% reduced chance. But how does this work? Well, tomatoes are full of antioxidants that have shown some correlation to protection from diseases. Tomatoes have an especially high amount of lycopene, which is what creates the dark red coloring. And if you suffer from depression symptoms, or worry about getting them should something happen, then add a few more tomatoes to your weekly diet and improve your chances of developing and suffering from this terrible disease and its symptoms.
